Groups are small, five or six people at most. All materials are provided. The kettle is always on. You come for a few hours, away from the noise, and leave with something handmade and a skill to keep.
No experience needed. Just willingness.
Whether you come just once, or once a month, the door is always open.
For years I taught art and textiles to teenagers. These days I create an environment where art feels inevitable, especially for the people who think they can't.
Where playing is allowed. Where confidence grows. Where you make for the joy of it. Where people find their own visual language.
There is great joy in sitting around a table with like-minded people, and I love it.
A relaxed, three-hour introduction to hand weaving, made for beginners. We use tabletop looms and a basket of different fibres. Groups are small, five at most.
You play with colour and texture, and learn simple techniques you can repeat at home. No experience needed, just a willingness to try.
You leave with your own handwoven piece, and the beginnings of a new skill.
In winter we light the fire. There is something special about a table of good company, weaving away with a pot of tea.
A hands-on workshop for complete beginners, and for anyone wanting to go deeper. Groups of six at most.
I guide you through the whole process, from sketching and carving your design to inking and printing by hand. You choose your block: soft-cut Japanese vinyl, woodblock, or traditional lino.
New to it, you learn the fundamentals and your first single-colour prints. With more experience, you can try reduction prints, jigsaw cuts, chine-collé, or repeat patterns, good preparation for the fabric printing workshop.
Lino is a forgiving process, which makes it a playful one. Have a go, see what happens with different inks and papers. Most of all, it is fun.
Print your own fabric for a lampshade, a cushion, or a set of small lavender bags. Groups of four at most.
You learn to lino print onto cloth, and how scale and repetition change a pattern. I guide you through the whole process, from sketching and carving to inking and printing by hand. It helps to have done one of the lino printing workshops first.
Work at your own pace. Some people come with a project in mind and go straight to it. Others spend the time playing with pattern, form and scale on big sheets of newsprint.
The classes are small, so I can help you with whatever you want to take from it.
You turn an ordinary Tetra Pak carton into a beautifully textured print, using a pasta maker as the press.
I take you through drawing your image, then cutting and scratching the surface to build areas of light and dark. You learn to apply etching ink and rework the surface until the texture sings.
It is a lovely process to learn here and carry on at home, on your own kitchen table. Until you do it yourself, the magic is hard to picture.
This is less about drawing in the traditional sense, more about looking. You connect with what is in front of you, and learn to respond through mark making.
No pressure. No right or wrong. A chance to slow down, look closely, and enjoy the doing of it. We work with different materials and approaches to switch off the overthinking part of the brain and find your own visual language.
Most of our inspiration comes from nature, its patterns, textures, and seasonal rhythms. It is about tuning in and letting go. Rather than asking is it good, we ask is it good for me.
Choose your fabric and make a lampshade to take home. A proper, usable thing for your house, made by your own hands in an afternoon.
No experience needed. Just a fabric you love.
Bring your own group. A birthday, a hen day, a get-together with friends, a team that would rather make than meet. Pick a craft and I will set it up for you, here at the house.
↑ Back to all workshopsTime set aside for you, and a single focus. We start with your creative why, the deeper sense of purpose behind your work. From there we find direction and focus, so you move forward with confidence rather than feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
It is a good way to stay accountable and keep yourself on track. We explore new ideas, new techniques, and new ways of seeing, to stretch your creative horizons.
If you are curious, let's chat.
↑ Back to all workshopsA few hours of making, given to someone you love. You can choose a particular workshop for them to do, or set up a voucher that goes towards whichever one they pick. A gift for the person who never makes time for themselves.
